The only modification made was to enable the ability to run software from the memory card. Each time you start your camera, Magic Lantern is loaded from your memory card. Magic Lantern is not a “hack”, or a modified firmware, it is an independent program that runs alongside Canon’s own software. It is an open framework, licensed under GPL, for developing extensions to the official firmware. Magic Lantern is a software enhancement that offers increased functionality to the excellent Canon DSLR cameras. Let’s start with a quick description of the Magic Lantern, picked directly from the official site. If you can't make heads or tails of it, then maybe getting a friend who can to do the install for you would be a better idea. Here you can learn all about Magic Lantern and find out all about the amazing possibilities that this independent firmware can give your Canon camera as it boosts its potential. Just me, but take the time to read the ML installation guide. And that's why you can't just delete ML files off a card and expect that to de-install ML you also have to undo the firmware change for full uninstall. But that's still a change to the firmware, so the firmware has to be the right version for that to happen properly. The only change ML makes to the firmware is to enable the firmware to run it. So, flying by the seat of your pants here and not having a clear idea of what's going on may not be the best way to do this. De-bricking in that rare circumstance would require having the gear/knowhow to overwrite the firmware memory with a new image without the camera menu access.

And that could mean it won't know how to install another firmware image. Firmware is what the devices uses to figure out how to do things like powering up, so messing it up can brick a device if it's not installed correctly or only partially installed. ML runs on top of the firmware (hence the requirement for a specific version) and needs to be installed after the firmware update. I'd also make sure you've cleanly uninstalled Magic Lantern from the 1100D via the ML format command (DO NOT JUST DELETE THE FILES!), if you've somehow managed to install it (hopefully you haven't). I would personally format the card that has 1.0.6 on it (since you can download that from Canon, you may not need to archive it, unless you're paranoid they're going to get rid of it), and put v1.0.5 on it for firmware upgrading. zip file also has a PDF in it with instructions on how to copy it to the memory card and then run firmware updating on the camera. zip of the FIR file for v1.0.5 is listed right there on the Magic Lantern website.
